The Ninth street
Day Nursery, Inc. functions as a day care and educational center. It is a United
Way of Greater Fall River agency and operates under licensure from the
Department of Early Education and Care. The school charges reasonable tuition on
a sliding scale for the services rendered to the children.
Ninth Street Day Nursery, Inc. exists to help the parents in the Greater Fall
River Community place their children of preschool age (2 years, 9 months - 6
years) in an environment conducive to happiness, good health, education,
recreation, good citizenship, and a positive sense of self.
Ninth
Street Day Nursery, Inc. is a charitable corporation established in 1956. It is
a continuation of a Nursery project conceived in 1910 by a group of women from
the American Association of University Women to care for children of working
parents.
The purpose of the Ninth Street Day Nursery is to promote the health and welfare
of enrolled children of the city of Fall River and surrounding communities. The
Nursery School, founded in 1910, was relocated to its current location at 533
Highland Avenue in Fall River in 1974. In addition to its educational program,
the school provides recreational facilities and healthy snacks as part of the
school day.
The purposes of the school have expanded over the years to meet the social
changes and requirements of the community by adding educational facilities and
expanding the staff to include teachers qualified in Early Childhood Education.
The school is open 52 weeks per year, Monday - Friday, from 6:45 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
There is not only an educational school-year program, but also a well-planned summer
recreational program.
